A lovely quiet walk starting from the car park at Powderham Castle. From the bottom car park walk up towards the farm shop and take the tree lined path going left and follow it to the lodge at the bottom. Turn left here and follow the road (cars & bikes – no pavement) alongside the railway line until you reach the foot/cycle bridge. Take the foot/cycle bridge and continue until you reach Turf Locks where you will find the Turf Hotel, a great spot for a drink. There are some wonderful views all along this walk including the stunning Exe Estuary and Deer at Powderham Castle. To return just follow the same path back but once you go over the foot/cycle bridge turn right instead and walk alongside the church and up the quiet road. There is a right hand bend at the top and at this bend pretty much dead ahead is a public footpath straight across the grass then keep going. This will take you round the back of the Powderham estate, straight across the small path and keep going straight over a footbridge and through a few gates – you will emerge in Kenton. Turn left here and walk up the hill to return to the car park via the same driveway to Powderham Casle and the Orangery restaurant. 6.25 miles approx.

Below is a map from my Viewranger App. I always use this to track my walks. I use it on Android with a MotoG5 and it keeps the GPS going even without a phone signal, I’m impressed with it. GPX File Here
